The Graduate School will hold two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, August 8th at 9am and 12pm, and the university relies on the support of employees across campus to ensure that this event goes smoothly! Commencement Ceremony Times:
Saturday, August 8th at 9:00 am (Volunteers arrive at 7:30 am)
Saturday, August 8th at 12:00 pm (Volunteers arrive at 10:30 am)
More information about which graduates will attend each ceremony and their ticketing process is available at /commencement/.
Attire for volunteers is business casual (no jeans or athletic wear). Please wear your UCA name badge if you have one. If you do not have one, a commencement volunteer name tag will be provided for you.
Duties include passing out programs, scanning tickets, welcoming visitors, giving directions, assisting with accessible and reserved seating, answering questions, and assisting graduates, faculty and visitors.
Volunteers will need to report to Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center Room 101 to check in at their shift start time, which is 1 hour and 30 minutes before the ceremony. Some volunteers will be dismissed 30 minutes after the start of the ceremony, and others will be asked to stay until the ceremony concludes (expected ceremony time is 1 hour and 30 minutes). Please pay attention to your shift end time when signing up.
UCA employees may choose to receive Staff Senate volunteer time (reported and tracked through HR leave banks) or flex time, if approved by their supervisor.

Staff Senate has initiated a new program, Future-Ready Bears is a program designed to assist our fellow campus staff with back-to-school supplies. The program is open to all UCA and Aramark employees who meet the qualification requirements.
We are asking for your donations to assist with this effort. See the attached flyer for the supply wish list and monetary donation link. Please make donations by July 17th.
Look for the black donation bins in Bernard Hall, Burdick Hall, and Harrin Hall.

Announcement: Dr. Jesse Butler of the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department was selected for and is currently participating in the interdisciplinary summer institute on Self-Knowledge for Humans & Artificial Systems, hosted by the National Endowment for the Humanities! This two-week interdisciplinary institute aims to explore the problem of self-knowledge from its classical roots in philosophy and contemplative traditions to contemporary discussions of metacognitive A.I. Dr. Butler offers over 20 years of experience in philosophy of mind, with research on introspection, self-knowledge, and applied ethics that will add an invaluable perspective to the questions asked at the summer institute, along with many other esteemed professionals from universities around the country.

The Bear Essentials Food Pantry will be closed on Thursday, 7/2 and Friday, 7/3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. We will reopen at 11 am on Monday, 7/6.

Griffin Planetarium shows this Friday June 26 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm: The one-hour shows this week include a brief tour of the current sky, and full-dome movies on Mayan and Aztec archeoastronomy. The planetarium is located in the Conway Corporation Center for the Sciences. Seating starts 10 minutes before show time. Admission is free. Seating limited to the first 94. No admission after the shows begin. No food or drink allowed.
