Biographical Note:听听
An African American female, Caviness was probably born c.1885.聽She apparently never married.聽The papers reveal that she owned property in Hot Springs and was often a benefactress to several family members and friends.

The Mary Caviness Papers consist of personal correspondence, business papers (insurance policies, tax receipts, etc.) and a few miscellaneous papers.听听
