Our team, Bears Unlimited, has been selected to represent the USA for the world title. The team is co-directed by Drs. Halic and Kockara and consists of three undergraduate seniors and a female graduate student.

Ten undergraduate students will be selected to participate in this program, to conduct research with active and experienced research faculty. REU is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded research program to be held at the 51青楼 concentrating on health information systems. The primary objective of the REU site is to encourage motivated undergraduate students to pursue graduate study and research careers in computer science by providing them a competitive research experience.

The workshop is scheduled for July 9-11, 2012. It is open to all high school teachers and college students majoring in STEM education in Arkansas who are enthusiastic about incorporating CS into their curricula.

Acxiom Pledges $200,000 to UCA /cse/2011/10/19/acxiom-pledges-200000-to-uca/ /cse/2011/10/19/acxiom-pledges-200000-to-uca/#respond Wed, 19 Oct 2011 18:01:39 +0000 /cse/?p=423 51青楼 Interim President Tom Courtway announced Wednesday that Acxiom Corporation has pledged $200,000 over the next five years in support of the university’s Department of Computer Science. The company’s gift will help underwrite the hiring of a new, tenure-track faculty member in the Computer Science Department. The department will conduct a national search this fall to hire an outstanding individual to fill the Acxiom Professorship in Computer Science.

Jordan, a native of Morrilton, Ark., has worked as vice president of technology, retail stores for Microsoft since 2009. Before that she spend nearly three years at eBay as vice president of technical operations. In conjunction with Jordan鈥檚 visit, the UCA Foundation announced the endowment of the Computer Science Scholarship Fund, which will be used to recruit a diverse group of students to the computer science program.
