Dr. David Welky, associate professor of history, is the editor of America Between the Wars, 1919-1941, a collection of documents related toÌýthe era’s political, cultural, economic, and social history, published by Wiley-BlackwellÌýPress of Great Britain.ÌýWith extensive introductions, illustrations, discussion questions, the anthology is designed for use in college history classes.Ìý Dr. Welky is the author of four other books on the social and cultural history of twentieth-century America, including most recently The Thousand Year Flood: The 1937 Ohio-Mississippi Disaster (University of Chicago Press, 2011).

Juan S. Mendive, a studentÌýin the Master of Science program in Community and Economic Development (MSCED) at UCA presented a paper at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Southwest Division of the Association of American Geographers (SWAAG) on November 11.Ìý The paper wasÌýtitled “The Economic Geography of a Micropolitan City: A Case Study of Alice, Texas.”Ìý Mr. Mendive, a native of Laredo, Texas, was one of ten semifinalists for the Student Paper Award at the conference.Ìý He is in his second year of the MSCED program.
