- During the early years, students attending the Arkansas State Normal School were required to attend church services; non-attendance was not an option.
- The first structure on campus was a 167-by 67 foot building with a basement and two stories. The basement contained a gym, a room for the Department of Agriculture, engine room and toilet room. The first floor included four classrooms, three general offices, library and the president鈥檚 office. The second floor housed a 400-seat auditorium.
